CNN Heroes 2012 is an all-star tribute to everyday people from around the world making a difference. Thulani Madondo, the only South African nominated for the award, provides academic support to 400 children living in the slums of Kliptown, South Africa.
Among other programmes, his organisation – Kliptown Youth Programme – provides meals as well as uniforms, books and school fees for any student who cannot afford them.
