Craig Port x Shimmy Beach Club Collaboration – Presenting their Magnificent Modern Manscape

Craig Port has teamed up with Cape Town’s luxury beach destination Shimmy Beach Club to create the ultimate Manscape – an outdoor space that reflects the celebrated designers artistic vision and captured the essence of the Shimmy lifestyle.

Decorex - Africa’s premier décor, design and lifestyle exhibition portfolio - approached Craig Port to take part a tongue in cheek project by creating the ultimate Manscape. Other Cape Town male personalities also paired up with an outdoor timber specialist and an exclusive lifestyle brand to create a Manscape that revealed the latest trends in outdoor living.  These Manscapes formed part of the Decorex exhibition that took place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
The collaboration between Craig Port and Shimmy Beach Club was a celebration of summer in the city. Passionately inspired by Cape Town and its unique resort lifestyle, Port draws upon his surroundings when designing seasonal collections. “We feel that this makes him the ideal designer to interpret and accurately represent Shimmy's style as a premier Cape Town luxury lifestyle destination,” says Shaun Novitzkas, General Manager of Shimmy Beach Club.

Shimmy Beach Club has become the destination of choice for sun and sea loving Capetonians. The beachside location boasts a vibrant blend of global party culture and culinary indulgence, set in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Shimmy Beach Club effortlessly combines the casual experience of a laid-back holiday with the tasteful luxury of a high-end leisure resort.

The Manscape collaboration was developed to afford Decorex visitors a sumptuous and interactive Shimmy Beach Club experience with an inimitable designer twist. Port wanted to bring his dream world to life – one where sun drenched days meld into effervescent evenings and private Gazebos boast breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean with Table Mountain stretching out behind them.

With a strong altruistic element, funds raised from the project went to the celebrity/designer’s charity of choice. Decorex visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourite Manscape by placing an entry form in the allocated box at the stand and were invited to donate funds. Port selected The Richard Bloom Foundation, a charity that he launched in 2006 in memory of his friend and colleague Richard Bloom. The foundation provides support and practical training for young designers entering the fashion industry.
