The nautical traveller inspired collection welcomes you into a world of creative discovery where limits are set only by your own desire. Graphic illustrations tell a story of a reality where the inconceivable is conceived and we set sail for the island paradise within you.

The Chimeric Wayfarer collection boasts a juicy colour palette with brave accents where spicy orange meets electric yellow and neutral ivory is encompassed with timeless turquoise, hot pinks and soft purples. The vibrant pieces come to life through the signature pairing of mismatched prints and bold clashing patterns. For those who desire to show a little less skin, Maaji offers soft one-pieces assured to fit every unique body type.

Boasting an exciting range of silhouettes, the collection brings paradise to life through zipped, tasseled and layered bikinis, one-piece designs with playful cover-ups, corset-like tops and feminine bustiers. Enhance the look by pairing with a breezy maxi skirt or on-trend handkerchief top.

Give Away: Celebrating Father’s Day with Chivas Regal 18

A few more days to go until Father’s Day! Father’s Day is one of the most important days in the year as it gives us a chance to say thank you to our Father’s for everything that they have done and are still doing for us!

“Today at school I will learn to read at once; then tomorrow I will begin to write, and the day after tomorrow to cipher. Then with my acquirements I will earn a great deal of money, and with the first money I have in my pocket I will immediately buy for my papa a beautiful new cloth coat. But what am I saying? Cloth, indeed! It shall be all made of gold and silver, and it shall have diamond buttons. That poor man really deserves it; for to buy me books and to have me taught he has remained in his shirt sleeves... And in this cold! It is only fathers who are capable of such sacrifices!...” Carlo Collodi

The quote above from Carlo Collodi (famous Italian author) sums up perfectly how my father sacrificed so much and worked so hard and also how I would love to also buy him something amazing to say thank you for everything he has done and is still doing for me!

My father is the perfect gentleman in my eyes and over the years he has instilled values and morals in me that have shaped me to become the modern gentleman that I am today. I am still learning and growing and he still has a MAJOR influence on the decisions I make.

Chivas sent me a bottle of Chivas Regal 18 to enjoy with my father on Father’s Day to say thank you for the lessons he has taught me over the years in becoming a modern gentleman. Today I feel like sharing some of those lessons with you:

Lessons on life
·        Respect goes a long way!
·        You earn respect by giving it and always make sure you respect your elders
·        Before you make a major decision, consult me! I have been through it all and will always give you the best advice

Lessons on style
·        People form opinions based on the way you look, always present yourself the way you want people to think of you in a certain situation
·        Always ensure your shoes shine and that your sneakers are clean – you don’t want people to think that your are untidy

Lessons on relationships
·        First impressions count – make her feel that if she doesn’t want to be with you, it’s her loss
·        Always treat and respect her like you would treat and respect your mother

There are so many more lessons that I can share, but I will save them for another day, another post or maybe even write a book!

I am looking forward to Father’s Day this year because in addition to  sharing gifts and spending time together, I will also have the opportunity to give my father some insight on how best to drink whisky and enjoy Chivas Regal 18. A few months ago I was fortunate enough to attend the Chivas Regal 18 event where Max Warner (Chivas Regal global brand ambassador) shared some of his whisky knowledge. I look forward to sharing the tips we got from Max whilst enjoying a glass of whisky with my father!

Dan Brown once said “No love is greater than that of a father for His son.” I also feel that there is no love greater than that of a son for his father!

To all the Father’s reading the post, Happy Father’s Day!

To everyone else, Chivas gave me an extra bottle to share with one of you! All that you have to do is to tell me what makes your Father the perfect gentleman. You can tell me on Twitter, Facebook, Email or post a comment below!

Event: Missibaba and Kirsten Goss Store launch in Johannesburg

On Wednesday, 28 May 2014 the Swag Craze team attended the Missibaba and Kirsten Goss store launch in Birdhaven, Johannesburg! The launch was well attended by Jozi’s in-crowd (celebrities, media, fashion influencers, etc.). It was an amazing winter evening; thankfully there was a fire in the courtyard to keep us warm while we enjoyed yummy canapés, various cheeses, macaroons, brownies and delicious cocktails where Cruz Vodka was the main ingredient.

We really love all the Missibaba and Kirsten Goss products which they have available in store (see pics below for some of the products).  We also bought a few items, which we can’t wait to wear! The brands complement each other very well in the store.

Craig Port x JOYA Collaboration: Crafted Collar Pieces

On Sunday 25 May 2014, Craig Port showcased a collection of PORT and Miss Port looks at the Peace Table charity event in Cape Town. Gracing the runway for the first time were two striking necklaces designed in collaboration with Victoria Fenner of local jewelry brand JOYA.

Following on from a successful collaboration on accessories for the Craig Port SS13 ‘A Better Future Collection’ at MBFW Cape Town, Fenner has teamed up with Port brand once more. “After working so successfully last year, I jumped at the opportunity to join forces with the Miss Port team again”, exclaims Fenner.

In keeping with Craig’s WDC2014 ‘Year Of Design’ manifesto, the proudly Capetonian designer was keen for Kim Govaars, Creative Director of Miss Port and JOYA to produce a jewelry piece in celebration of Cape Town’s promise to ‘Live Design, Transform Life’.

The exciting fusion of design aesthetics resulted in two bold pieces that showcased international trends with a uniquely African point of view. Port took inspiration from their customers love for pared back luxury while Fenner was attracted to the statement necklace trend currently taking the fashion world by storm. Talented craftsman produced the necklaces in JOYA’s Cape Town workshop. Chunky gold chain was used in both designs with one boasting an oversized green agate stone and the other wrapped and embellished with onyx and black suede.

Unable to choose between the two striking necklaces, the collaborative team sent both down the runway at The Peace Table fashion show. The gorgeous Cindy Nel modeled one of the necklaces - much to the joy of the fashion crazy crowd.

The limited edition Miss Port / JOYA necklaces will be available for purchase directly from Fenner for R295 (Onyx and black suede chain necklace) and R350 (Agate stone chain necklace). For more information email: vicky@joya.co.za

PS: JOYA trains previously unemployed South African craftsmen in the art of making intricate jewellery and works with both the Hout Bay Women’s Co-operative and women within the Khayaletsha informal settlement on much needed skills development programs and employment opportunities.
