PUMA’s Latest Sneaker Collaboration Marks Slam Jam’s 25th Anniversary

Italian street wear revolutionaries Slam Jam are marking their 25th anniversary by collaborating with PUMA on a pair of iconic sneaker silhouettes, The States and the Trinomic XT2 Plus.

Founded by Luca Benini, Slam Jam pioneered the merging of youth subculture and fashion by venturing beyond the clothing and footwear market into arts and culture to create a unique identity.

Slam Jam was in the right place at the right time as the golden age of hip-hop and b-boy spread from New York and the East Coast to influence the rest of the world. The States was the iconic silhouette for this scene at this time, appearing in every sneaker bible and documentary. The shoe was sought after and with limited availability in Europe, Slam Jam was one of a few destinations with stock and became a destination for sneaker enthusiasts.

For 2015 The States has been re-imagined, in jet black cuts and featuring a simple embossed logo, to give the classic an avant-garde flair.

The States
Throughout the early ‘90s street fashion embraced city living sports, from skateboarding and cycling to running, and the PUMA Trinomic XT2 Plus was at the pinnacle of this movement. The innovative running shoe with cushioning technology, quickly became a hit in the fashion world. For 2015 the Slam Jam x PUMA Trinomic XT2 Plus mixes reflective material with the classic Slam Jam black and white colour scheme.

Trinomic XT2 Plus
The States retails for R1999 and the SLAM JAM x PUMA Trinomic XT2 for R2299 at PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town and Braamfontein, Johannesburg, as well as Shelflife from 21 March 2015.
