The Swag Craze team attended the launch of a special art
exhibition on 26 November 2015, which celebrated the 150-year anniversary of
the first appearance of Alice in Wonderland at The Corner Shop and Gallery in
Linden, Johannesburg. Twenty local artisits showcased amazing works that was
inspired by the novel. Gordon Froud - renowned artist, educator and curator –
opened the exhibition and described the legacy of Alice in Wonderland and how
it has influenced art in various ways (film, paintings, etc.) over the years.
Gordon also opened the bookstore inside The Corner Shop and Gallery. The
bookstore will host a special selection of high quality curated books, which
you can buy from the shop.
In addition to the amazing art inspired by Alice in Wonderland,
we also got to enjoy amazing bespoke cocktails (Cheshire Smile and the Red
Queen) which were created for the event. We loved the pairing of Hendricks Gin,
tonic and cucumber.
Be sure to pop by The
Corner Shop and Gallery (cnr 4th ave & 7th street, Linden, Johannesburg) to
see the amazing art by our local artists.
