First Look: adidas Originals by White Mountaineering Fall/Winter 2017

adidas Originals and Japanese menswear label White Mountaineering reconvene for FW17, bringing Yosuke Aizawa’s inimitable aesthetic to a comprehensive range of adidas Originals footwear and apparel. True to White Mountaineering’s philosophy of creating an elevated technical product with an unparalleled sartorial touch, the latest collection presents a range of cold weather designs in a stripped-back seasonal colour palette, complemented by footwear of different silhouettes, including the NMD_R2 and NMD Trail.

For the latest collection, Yosuke Aizawa’s signature aesthetic returns across a number of silhouettes including cargo pants and jersey pieces. Premium outerwear offerings include a Hooded Windbreaker reinterpreted with a technical design language. Each design is distinguished by signature paneled constructions and atypical 3-stripes placements in black, white and olive.

Accompanying footwear to the collection continues the military theme with both classic and contemporary 3-stripes silhouettes. Returning, the NMD Trail steps out in a duo of colouways with reflective print details and a saw-tooth outsole for a better grip. Likewise, the NMD_R2 returns with essential paneled construction and signature 3-stripes details.

The collaboration encapsulates the commitment of both labels to creating striking street-ready designs with an uncompromised performance edge.

The collection is available from AREA3 in Braamfontein and astore in Cape Town.

PUMA Partners up with Naturel for a Collection that’s out of this World

PUMA continues to go beyond the limits of sport-style design by partnering with fresh creative talent, this time linking up with renowned US-based graphic artist NATUREL. Known for his symbolism-heavy illustrations, street conscious assertions on Neo-Cubist styles, he injects references from sports, fashion, and music into his art.  What you can expect from this collaboration is nothing of this world.

Men are from Mars. Women are from Venus. And NATUREL is definitely from a far galaxy where the norm is thrown out the window. The PUMA x NATUREL collection consists of footwear, apparel, and accessories inspired by space travel and a vision of an urban landscape on the moon, accented by military details. NATUREL spins timeless icons like the Suede and Clyde making them street wearable art. No limits, no boundaries, pure NATUREL.

The first drop of the collection is now available, followed by a second drop in September.

First Look: Tom Sachs x NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0

Tom Sachs is a US based artist known for his contemporary and abstract pieces. Working alongside Nike, Sachs attempted to create a work of art that is functional as it is striking.

Back in 2012, Tom Sachs and Nike linked up to introduce the coveted NikeCraft Mars yard, a shoe for Tommaso Rivellini, a mechanical engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. The coveted kicks quickly became a highly sought-after commodity and an instant classic thanks to their retrofuturistic design, going for thousands of dollars on eBay. Similar to the 2012 release, this pair showcases a vintage inspired look throughout. Cream coloured mesh hits the sidewall and also appears across the toe while premium suede offers a nice contrast in a deep shade of brown. The vintage swoosh sits across the sidewall in a deep red colourway and soft fleece makes an appearance to the inner lining.

The Tom Sachs x NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0 will drop on Friday, 28 July 2017, at selected retailers.
