First Look: adidas introduces new Tubular iterations

This season, Tubular challenges the rules and conventions of “high fashion”, disrupting the status quo and starting a dialogue about where, and to whom fashion belongs. The story we tell is one that connects the streets to the catwalk – showing that today, street rules fashion, and not the other way around.

NOVA Tubular apparel collection

This September, adidas Originals presents the latest instalment of its NOVA Tubular apparel collection for men and women.  Informed by archive adidas designs and distinct moments in sportswear history, the NOVA Tubular collection’s unique blend of references culminates as a considered expression of modern style perspectives. The apparel collection explores unorthodox colour palettes including classic heather greys and blacks to forest greens for men and olives, navy blues and pinks for women.

In the men’s range, this ethos manifests through a range of weather-ready pieces, including windproof tracktops and pants, patterned crewneck sweats and classic jersey pieces. For the women’s offer, this same ethos is applied to a selection of feminine silhouettes such as leggings, hoodies, sweats and skirts.

Tubular Rise

Introducing a brand new silhouette this season, adidas Originals presents perhaps the boldest iteration of the Tubular philosophy yet with the creation of the Tubular Rise model. Offered in a tonal tan colourway, a Primeknit upper provides an adaptive, comfortable foundation, structured by a large suede midfoot cage and elastic heel counter. Space-dyed neon fibres in the upper textile push the futuristic aesthetic even further, whilst a modern, integrated lacing system blends into the shoe’s aggressive design. This is then placed atop a textured EVA midsole with moulded stability plugs, including an overflow panel that rises up across the shoe’s heel quarter.

Tubular Dawn

adidas Originals also steps forward with two new iterations of the new Tubular Dawn silhouette, offering the women’s-exclusive model in a duo of classic colourways.

With a notable use of tone and texture, the first iteration features a matte mesh textile upper in Utility Black, with 3D embroidered details on the forefoot and heel. This is expanded by webbing details on the quarter with a reflective silicone print, integrating into a modern lacing system with two-tone laces. The design is then placed upon the distinctive ridged outsole of the Tubular Doom silhouette, finished with a nubuck leather heel piece and Tubular branding on the tongue. This is then countered by a Primeknit edition in Trace Olive, swapping mesh out for adidas’ adaptive Primeknit material with a woven speckle motif, countered with a leather heel piece for a premium take on the Tubular Dawn aesthetic.

Tubular Doom PK W / Tubular Doom Sock PK

The Tubular Doom steps out in a trio of new iterations this month, courtesy of adidas Originals. First up, the original Tubular Doom silhouette will be releasing in a women’s-exclusive iteration. The shoe’s sock-fit design is brought to its apex through a full Primeknit upper, supported by structural overlays and a contrast heel-cage panel. Offered in a clean Raw Pink colorway with contrast Vapour Grey details, the release brings the aggressive aesthetic of the Tubular Doom into a softer, feminine context without sacrificing any of its original energy.

Accompanying the Tubular Doom PK, the Tubular Doom Sock arrives in a new Primeknit construction, structured by a rear heel-support piece and an integrated lacing system. The Tubular Doom Sock PK will be available in Charcoal and Core Black colourways.

Tubular is available at adidas Originals stores, adidas online store, AREA3 and selected retailers.

First Look: The Skepta x Nike Air Max 97 Ultra

UK rapper Skepta partners with Nike on the Nike Air Max 97 Ultra. The sneaker is inspired by Morocco, as well as the palette of the 1999 Air Tuned Max.

For this release, the Skepta turns his attention to the Air Max 97 which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Marrakesh provides the inspiration for this rendition with a glimmering iridescent upper that celebrates the vibrant Moroccan city.

A deep hue or red transitions to gold and purple thanks to that contemporary use of materials. Although this is completely unique, it does stay true to the original silhouette complete with a wavy construct and mini-Swoosh along the sidewall. The sneaker also features woven detailing in a deep shade of black to match a chunky and robust tongue. A gold panel features on the sidewall and a black midsole adds a stealthy contrast underfoot.

adidas Originals Drop The Latest EQT Footwear and Apparel Pack

This season adidas Originals pays tribute to the city of Detroit with the release of a new EQT footwear and apparel pack.

Drawing from the unique ‘90’s aesthetic and colour palette of the original Equipment series, the new apparel collection offers a range of classic sportswear pieces in accessible, mixable colours. For women iconic colours like white, heather grey and essential EQT green are brought together across a range of pieces including dresses, sweats and outerwear.

In the men’s range, similar principles are applied to a more classic apparel collection, switching out EQT green for a deep EQT blue shade. Similar details such as EQT 3-stripes graphic prints and panelled constructions return, whilst designs take a more traditional route, modifying classic sportswear with subtle adjustments such as extended silhouettes and utility pockets.

For women, a new iteration of the EQT Racing ADV silhouette is presented in a clean aqua colour way with contrast black accents. The men’s offering presents a new edition of the futuristic EQT Support 93/17 model, utilising a knit textile upper with contrast mesh quarter panels and tailored embroidery details.

A refined approach to an adidas Equipment classic, the EQT Support RF model receives two new treatments this season for men and women. The men’s iteration assumes a classic 90’s running materiel way, featuring a mesh construction with suede panels and welded overlay details. Rendered in a Carbon black colourway, it’s an understated approach that brings the classic adidas footwear design to the fore. For the women’s Support RF edition, a slightly altered approach counters a mesh vamp with nubuck panels and roller knit textile on the tongue and quarter.
