First Look: PUMA x Roland RS-100 and RS-0 which Globally on #808DAY

PUMA and renowned Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, Roland, drops a second silhouette that completes the RS sneaker pack – the RS-100 Roland.
The RS-100 Roland follows the story of reinvention – inspired by the past, shaped by the colourful histories of both brands and reimagined for the future. While the RS-0 Roland is a complete reboot of the R-System, the RS-100 Roland retains a more retro look but is decked in modern materials.
The RS-100 Roland’s upper features a vibrant orange suede Formstrip with white reflective edges amidst a combination of white-red pebble leather, black ripstop nylon panels and yellow suede. PUMA and Roland branding can be found on the tongue label, footbed and the anodised metal hangtag. “Rhythm Composer TR-808, Computer Composer” is printed on the heel. A PUMA and Roland logo is printed on the footbed, while the outsole features lines to mimic the lights on a sound synthesiser. All colours and detailing represent 80’s retro hues found on a Roland TR-808 drum machine.

Unveiled last season, the RS-0 Roland, also inspired by the game-changing TR-808 drum machine, features premium leather black upper, micro perf vents, 6mm flat, reflective laces, reflective midsole details and signature TR-808 colours – red, orange and yellow, on the Formstrip. Familiar notes like “Rhythm Composer” and “Bass Drum” accent the midsole while the orange hue continues to the translucent rubber outsole. PUMA and Roland branding can be found on the tongue label, footbed and the anodised metal hangtag.

This exciting collaboration extends Roland’s commitment of innovation and continuing to shape the sound of modern music, setting the standards in music technology for the world to follow. For PUMA, it continues to enrich their stories of reinvention by partnering with influential and creative brands, individuals, and institutions that strive to push culture forward through innovation in design, style, technology, and more.

Both the RS-0 and RS-100 Roland sneakers drop globally on August 8th, internationally known as #808DAY. The iconic TR-808 drum machine is celebrated for its legendary status and credited by many as the spark that lit the flame of hip-hop music worldwide.

It retains the bold signature exaggerated tooling, blown-up proportions and material mix of premium suede, textured leather and mesh.

The Thunder pays homage to past collabs and silhouettes ahead of their time. Inspired by 90s Cell System running silhouettes and the PUMA x McQueen collaboration, the style is a reimagined pair of kicks with a bulky, unapologetic look and feel.

First Look: PUMA Suede 50 x Santa Cruz

PUMA continues to celebrate 50 years of Suede excellence by rolling with Northern Cali natives and skate culture icons Santa Cruz Skateboards in the latest of epic anniversary collaborations. The Suede, like Santa Cruz, is a skateboard icon #ForAllTime. The two come together for a sneaker and tee pack to make fans flip.
Known as the oldest skate brand that hasn’t stopped production since its beginnings, Santa Cruz was founded in 1973 by surfers Rich Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman in Santa Cruz, CA. The brand gained worldwide buzz thanks to its rad designs and loud graphics.
Also considered a cultural icon is the “Screaming Hand,” Santa Cruz’s main logo designed by Jim Phillips Sr. in 1985. The blue hand is literally screaming, a mouth gapes open wide at the centre of the palm, tongue out, teeth on display. The inspiration behind the logo was about the power of the hand, the way we use our hands to express ourselves through words, art and music. The Screaming Hand logo has become a skateboarding icon and is recognised widely throughout the skate community

The Screaming Hand is embroidered on the side of each heel, the blue hand against the black suede upper. The Formstrip becomes the scream, a wave of red sound and adrenaline. The artwork is enveloped in a lush black suede upper atop a gumsole. The PUMA and Santa Cruz logo is featured on the sneaker tongue. Complementing the sneaker is the PUMA x Santa Cruz Tee, making it a highly collectible pack.

Get your hands on the PUMA Suede 50 x Santa Cruz (R2 499) and Tee (R699) at PUMA SELECT and selected retailers on 26th July.

PUMA x Shantell Drops Second Season Collection

Renowned artist Shantell Martin has created a language of lines. At once whimsical and profound, her thought-provoking and memorable world of characters and messages bridges the gap between fine art, performance art, and everyday life.
