The side profile, whose layers mix together various materials of different texture and shade, cascade downwards with patterns of illusory lines and a multitude of different geometric shapes.

Elsewhere, black midsoles are marked with matching green air units and toe caps of similarly dark suede fabric. Tongues opt for the same neutral though in ripstop, contrasting that of the eye stay loops whose saturated green webbing bears even more symbols.

adidas Originals Drops the Clean Classics Collection to Help End Plastic Waste

adidas Originals remakes its most iconic sneakers to address the concern of our generation - plastic waste. adidas Originals serves up Clean Classics, a range of court classics, redesigned to reduce the brand’s impact on the environment. At the core of this pledge is Primegreen; a series of high-performance materials containing a minimum of 50% recycled content. Primegreen and the Clean Classics collection act to challenge production conventions, using 70% recycled materials for the uppers, as well as renewable and reclaimed rubber for the soles. The resulting sneakers are vegan, in an effort to reduce our use of virgin materials and our impact on the environment.  By re-thinking pattern cutting, the Clean Classics collection not only reduces unnecessary waste, but also creates distinctive, new cuts and details.

Clean Classics includes the Superstar, Stan Smith, Continental 80, Top Ten, SC Premiere, Supercourt, and Superstar Bold, all of which are remade for 2020. adidas Originals’ Clean Classics pays homage to the brand’s heritage creating white leather sports shoes, with a new pledge of responsibility that shows adidas’ commitment to ending plastic waste. The truth is that these shoes alone will not save the planet - a claim which appears in the design language of the collection, via stylistic handwriting, however Clean Classics remains committed to continuously innovate in the field of sustainability. Special Clean Classics emblems can be found throughout, as a reminder of the brand’s commitment. The composite nature of the sole creates a bricolage effect of color flecks leaving the clean white upper’s mostly unadorned, pops of color can be found on the laces and stylistic text.

The Clean Classics collection is available online and at adidas Originals stores at a retail price of R1899.

First Look: adidas x Beyoncé Superstar

Beyoncé adds a platform to the legendary rubber shell-toe shoes.

To celebrate 50 years of the iconic silhouette, the powerhouse who has redefined pop culture in her own right lends her elegance and perspective to the rubber shell-toe trainer. Beyoncé's influence is clear, with a raised platform to add extra height that really makes a statement.

Aside from the audacious triple-layered, pointy-toed sole unit, Beyoncé has kept the silhouette at its simplistic self. Sitting wedged into the aforementioned, protruding sole unit is a relatively calm take on the 50-year-old sneaker, with classic white leather construction and black leather overlays, both finished in top-tier materials.

Gold foil branding is swapped out for tonal finishes across the board; debossing on the mid panel and tongue, and glossy glaze at the heel, whilst co-branding graces the insoles in stark blacks. Underfoot you’ll find a standard platform sole unit amalgamated with a thick, sharply angled top tier to complete the design.

Nike WMNS Air Force 1 Low - 'Black Tie-Dye'

Leather uppers are replete with tie-dye patterns boasting 'Green Strike' and 'Washed Coral' hues. Midfoot panels and tongue areas introduce a magenta-like tone also complemented with 'Black' blotches.

Unlike the forefoot, heel areas on this Air Force 1 deliver some semblance of order with their 'White' base, but profile Swooshes and rear overlays boast some 'Green Strike' flair. Underfoot, sole units keep their arrangement simple with a 'yin-and-yang' palette.
